RN-MSN with nonnursing bachelors degree

Hi

I have been working as an ED RN for about 1 year now and only hold by diploma in Nursing. I do, however have a bachelors degree in something non nursing related. I thought about starting a RN-MSN bridge program but some people are telling me that hospitals do not prefer that and they want you to get the BSN first rather than doing the bridge program. My ultimate goal is to become an NP. What are my best options? I appreciate any feedback. I live in NJ at this time and have been looking at different schools and online programs but it is quite overwhelming.
