RN License endorsement to California

Published

For foreign graduates, has anyone tried endorsing your license to California recently? Did you still take the required units for your deficiencies?

Hi. I am still waiting for my application to be processed and for them to give me my requirements to submit. I paid Feb 5th/21. My roommate got his requirements already but I guess it depends on which "evaluator" based on last names.

I thought it takes about a month before you get your deficiencies. Did you try to follow up? Now I am worried, I just paid this week. I don’t know when will I get mine ?

The processing times for endorsement stated that it should be ongoing for US who applied from Feb 1-15th but I think mine is considered International for which they are still processing those from Jan 16-31st.

Hi any news? I applied online and paid last 4/23 and received fingerprint card on 4/30. Called the BON on what next to do but they said just wait for mail. Then my friend who also applied for endorsement before told me to print out the forms that needed to be submitted in my school. I am an international graduate. Can anyone tell me if they get any mail for instructions on what to do next? Thank you in advance.

Hey, I saw my requirements on Breeze after >2months of payment.  The BRN mail just arrived dated 04/20  stating requirements with the analyst's name included + 1 year due date to submit them. Before this, I already uploaded some requirements below based on my research from a FB group, so I had fewer list to submit. Depending on your international education, your requirements could be more/less than mine. There is a BRNendorsement packet pdf which I got the forms from.

These are the ?general requirements from me that I scanned/filled-up electronically/paid & uploaded on Breeze.

1. Copy of US SSN/ITIN.

2. Copy of your visa and/or passport for entire time frame in school. (I uploaded a letter explaining I didn't have my old passport before I became Canadian).

3. Copy of foreign nursing diploma with English translation.

4. Endorsement Identification form (APPLICATION FOR LICENSURE BY ENDORSEMENT pages 9 & 10).

5. License verification from a State where you hold a current and active RN license. (I paid NURSYS and uploaded the receipt). Also, request a license verification from another State if you passed your NCLEX there. If not, see below.

6. *The fingerprint cards (completed at local police station) were the only items I mailed to BRN.

Items that must come directly to the Board from your nursing school/licensing Board or NURSYS.

1. Nursing Transcript(s) that reflect a posted degree. (You could use page 14 to request these from your schools). I actually paid CGFNS eDAS thinking it was a good idea since they had some info kept from my CGFNS Visa Screen but uncertain now, waste of ?$225.

2. Educational Breakdown form. (I eventually emailed my 3 Canadian schools' program coordinator/chair/advisor/information officer requesting to compete page 18. They take longer time that's why I paid CGFNS which is awesomely also slow pace ?).

*There is a way on Breeze to find your Entity Number.

3. License verification indicating you passed the NCLEX-RN or 5-part Canadian exam prior to 1980. (CGFNS had a 2019 copy of my College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) verification of license with passing NCLEX... but BRN is ?demanding it from CNO). CNO only provides electronic documentation now so I emailed my analyst for advice.

You can check the processing times for international at the BRN's website, currently processing those international applications paid on March 1-15.

I didn't get my license yet. It will take months for my schools to send the forms. I might be deficient as well with OB & PEDS clinical hours. So going to Cali is not my goal this year.

I have friend that applied for endorsement before and had a deficiency. Years later he attempt to apply again without completing the deficiency he had before and got his endorsement approved. This was just 3 yrs ago.

Yes. They are waiving deficiencies due to COVID now but mostly part I read if you have concurrency issues. It really depends on the analyst and education eh.

Are they still waiving deficiencies endorsing your license to CA? Im a foreign grad RN. Im working as an RN in Texas. I have an active compact state RN license in Texas and also New York. Planning to do travel Nursing in Cali. Is there anyone can help me answer my question.

Cali BRN is waiving deficiency until June 2021. Depending on your education, they might not waive certain insufficient clinical hours/subject etc as noted on the Cali FB group.
