RN Liaison with Gentiva offer. Advice 911!

Published

Hi...I have never posted before, but am in a desperate situation here. I have been a nurse for many years doing HH and Hospice. I have an interview with Gentiva for a Home Health Specialist/Rn Liaison position. I have also been offered a position teaching nurse aides with another Co. The Gentiva job has better benifits and more than likely better$$$.

But as a nurse I know$$$ is not anything if you are employeed in a 21st century sweat shop, and hate your life! I do not want a huge amount of stress. I am so over that. But Gentiva has good benifits. I do like going to the Al's, SNF's and such...

Please...does anyone have any clue as to the job satisfaction with this position/company? I have seen all the negative comments about the company from the case managers who get pay per visit. I would hate that too. But this is an hourly or salary position I believe.

Thanks a million

My negative experience with Gentiva was because of the individuals who came into the office management positions after the good Director left. I think it is worth a try, but be aware of the current litigation regarding their pay practices. I'm sure you have noticed the banner ads on allnurses from one of the law firms that is suing Gentiva at the present time. I also read recently that Gentiva is under scrutiny at the federal level for broad-based fraud. For all of these legal problems, I think I would prefer another employer.

Ditto what the above post said...Gentiva is being investigated for not paying overtime. I interviewed with Gentiva a few years ago for a HH RN position and got a really bad impression from the interviewing manager that they expected you to work miracles and never have any overtime. I got the feeling that their expectations were so high and not supportive of new staff. Just my one experience, but I knew immediately I did not want to work for them. It may depend on the personality of the manager, though.

You must have interviewed with the manager who took over control of my office! She was so rude that she did not ever return a phone call from my client!

from my experience there are good and bad gentiva offices,,,i think i am working for one of the "bad" offices, no organization, no communication, nurses leaving for one reason or another, we have someone from another office helping us out as we are so short staffed and she says her office is NOT run like this one,,,,!!!! go where your heart takes you, gentiva benefits are not any better than i have had elsewhere.
