RN Credentials for an Expired License

by CBWED CBWED (New) New

Hi all,

I received my BSN and worked as an RN for some time before pursuing another career path.

My question is: Can I still put the "RN" credential after my name now that my license has expired?

Thanks so much for the help!

AFAIK, the letters "RN" after your name indicate that you hold a valid, active license to practice nursing, and you can't use "RN" with your name if your license is expired. And, in most states, you can get into legal trouble for presenting yourself to the public as an RN if you're not.

Of course, the BSN degree is yours forever, and you are certainly entitled to use "BSN" after your name.
