RN-BSN...how soon did you enroll?

For those with your ADN, how long did you wait before enrolling into an RN-BSN program?

How did you juggle working as an RN and school?

Did clinical practice help you more or less with school work?

If you started in a New Grad program, were you able to handle the intensity of doing training at work along with school?

Thanks!!

I was an ADN for 8 yrs before doing an ADN to BSN ant hen right into an MSN and the a post MSN certificate.

I've been an RN for less than a year, and in my current nursing position for almost 6 months now. I start my RN to BSN classes in a week. I'm so glad I waited until I got "settled" in at work - found there was lots of stuff I wanted to look up/ research r/t patient's conditions I've encountered or to learn more about particular treatments, meds etc after I got home. I chose a one night a week and no clinical program, so I think I'll be able to balance things....

I enrolled during my last semester of the ADN program, knowing the job market was tight and that I would need to remain relevant it seemed like a good idea. Plus if I am unable to find work I will not have to begin repayment of my student loans in six months. I go back in August, I graduated in May...my school offers an accelerated program that meets once a week in five week increments. From what I hear the courses are NOTHING like the intensity of the nursing program and many people successfully juggle work and school. I will be done in less than two years. If there are still no jobs perhaps I will just continue until I am a doctor.:lol2:
