Riverview Reg. Med. Center nurse murdered (AL/GA)

Woman's body found in trunk of car | GadsdenTimes.com

Someone on another board posted that the car was found less than 1 mile from her (the poster's) home, and this poster said that she learned from authorities that the nurse was strangled.

My sympathies for her family and friends. How sad that she became another unfortunate victim of violence.

Other than the fact that she was a supervisor and that she was wearing scrubs when she was killed, how does this relate to nursing?

I agree. There have been plenty of this sort of thread in the past. Just because someone who happens to be a nurse is in the news doesn't mean it belongs in the Nursing News section.

Have it deleted, then. So many threads had been posted that I though it was normal to do so. I suppose if she were abducted at the parking site at work, it might turn out to be relevant, though.

My opinion is that this relates to nursing in that this was a colleague, a fellow nurse, and it is a loss for the profession as well as inferential evidence of the disproportion degree of violence against nurses as opposed to other professions.

It is a tragedy that affects us all. My condolences to her family.

i was thinking it would be relevent if we found out later that a co employee did it, or some psycho stalked her after work. either of these scenariois could happen. one of my co workers was leaving work from the hospital parking garage and found a bum sleeping in the back seat of her car.It could happen.

anyhow condolences to the family

Every death by violence effects us all indirectly, but that doesn't make them all relevant. To consider this crime relevant because the victim was a nurse and because we've been discussing patient-directed violence against nurses lately, is too broad an inference to be credible. At this point, it's coincidence.

I had no issue with you posting about the homicide. There will be many details to follow and yes it is nursing news when it is one of our own. It may make us stop and consider for a moment we are all vulnerable to being attacked/murdered in our helping profession.

And all deaths are relevant to someone. If not us directly. That was someones mother, daughter, sister or best friend. People be aware that not only nurses are in the forum, but other professionals and also you may never be aware of who is reading this.

Or perhaps, a warning--since the culprit is still unknown and could be an ER coworker, patient or family member.

Or a family member, eh? Funny you should put it that way.

Husband charged with nurses murder | GadsdenTimes.com

Can we now agree that her profession was a coincidence, or are we going to continue to read into it?

It is nursing news, because she was a nurse. Finding out that it may have been her husband is no matter. This may remind us that we are often taking care of others and their families, that we sometimes neglect our own situations, that should be handled before something like this happens.

Thank you for posting this message about a fellow nurse. It could have happened to any one of us. I read this type of news frequently. It seem to be a world that don't mind causing harm to nurses and especially women. Again thanks.

Yes, it's relevant.

SHE is or was a nursing colleague.
