Rhogam P & P

by RTNurse RTNurse (New) New

Does anyone have a policy and procedure for monitoring a patient after giving a rhogam injection. The manufacturer states to monitor the patient for 20 minutes does not go into any more detail than that. Our facility apparently is only doing a first set of vitals, giving the injection and then releasing the patient from the clinic. Is this adequate?

Nope, where I worked before I believe they gave it at the time of discharge, they said it usually causes a fever, & they basically wanted them out the door quickly so they didn't have to deal with the fever, unless I'm confusing it with another shot frequently given in postpartum...........
