Has anyone heard about revisions being made to the 2008 programs? I saw this at the Glendale CC website and was a little confused. I believe this was pertaining to either pre-req's or co-req's. Anyone heard anything lately?

It seems that they are only revising the co-reqs, not the prereqs. My bet is that they are bringing Pathophysiology back. Also, it seems they raised the NET reading from 50% to 60%.

where on the gcc website is this posted?
Im not exactly sure where I went as the website has changed. It was under the nursing program, and then I believe there was a newsletter. However, it does seem logical that the changes are going to be made to the co-req's because I have checked other MCCD school websites and saw nothing new....

The biggest change in the new program is that there will be less clinical hours. In the current program, students earn 52 credit hours during their clinical rotations. In the new program they will only earn 46 credit hours. This was supposedly mandated by az bon. Here are the details that were listed in my Nursing Student Handbook....The pre-reqs are as follows:
BIO156/BIO181
Or Exempt
CRE101
CHM130
MAT120
Or higher
BIO201
BIO202
ENG101
BIO205
Co-reqs are:
PSY101 3.0 Cr
ENG 102 3.0 Cr
Humanities 2.0 Cr
Patho will still be taught as part of Nursing Process, and the CNA requirement is also still included in Block One.
I hope this helps to clear up any confusion.....

The following is the link to the website where you can download a pdf document that has a copy of the MCCD Nursing Program of Study as of July 2007. It also has the program of study as of July 2006 for comparison. The pre-reqs are the same. They dropped the HCC145AA co-req, and the changed the nursing science course numbers and credit hours.

Hi!
I met with the nursing advisor yesterday at Gilbert-Chandler. She did tell me that they are in the process of making some changes, which will be posted in the January 2008 newsletters. She said that they are probably going to change some of the pre-req's to co-req's. She said nothing has been approved by the board yet, but that is what they are working on. Didn't mention any other changes. Would be nice if they did make these changes, as that could mean application to the program sooner. On the other hand, that means more applicants in the pool competing for spots.
