I had Kaplan, Lipincott, Saunders, and NCLEX 101: How to pass. I also ordered Mosby's online CAT.
I really liked Kaplan and Saunders the best. That said, I think the best strategy is to have a multitude of books b/c every author has a different style of writing the questions, and I think studying from them all gave me a very well rounded preparation for NCLEX.

Hi!
I used Princeton Review: Cracking the NCLEX-RN. It goes through each body system and highlight the important stuff. There is about 10 questions at the end of each chapter. There is also a CD with questions. It's a good review book overall. I just didn't find there were enough questions.
I also used Kaplan: NCLEX-RN 2003-2004 edition. It's a good book for learning strategies for test-taking. Once again, I found there were not enough practice questions.
Lippincott: NCLEX-RN Review (7th edition) has lots of questions. A total of 5000+!!! It also includes a CD! Also the rational is very thorough. I highly recommend this book!

As for study tips...DO LOTS OF PRACTICE QUESTIONS!!! Don't just read over your notes from nursing school or a medical dictionary. Do as many questions as you can get your hands on. Aim for 100-200 questions per day. Once you've done the questions, mark them and see which ones you got wrong. Read the rationals for each questions...even the questions you got right. With the questions you got wrong, read the rational...make sure you understand what is being said. If you need more information, go to a reference source.
Best of luck to you!!!
