Return to old job?

I started a new job at a psych hospital to work with adult patients after spending 2 years on a pediatric mental health unit. The issue is although I love the experience, I can't stand this job. I don't enjoy working with adults, I was very at ease with the kids, and the culture of this hospital is, uh, not so great. I have been thinking of returning to the pediatrics unit almost since day 1 of orientation. My hesitation is that I have only been off orientation for about 2 months and I am conflicted about leaving so soon. Any advice? I still work per diem at the pediatric hospital and left on good terms.

I'd say two months is adequate time to know if you are going to like the position since you do have experience in the specialty.  Unless there are compelling reasons to stay at the new position if you are able to return to your old job do what will make you happy.   We spend too much time in our lives working to continue going every day to a job we don't like if there are options available that we do like.

Before answering your question, I'd want to know your reasons for leaving in the first place...
