So it's 12:30am and I'm sitting at home looking for nursing jobs. My problem is that it has been 7 years since I've worked because I was blessed to be able to stay home and raise my 4 kids. And while I'm looking up jobs, I'm distressed and wondering if it's worth it. Will someone hire me? Any tips, success stories, fails? I worked only 4 years med surg prior to leaving. I've only done my ceu's online and I left before they started all the EMR. Should I just apply to Wal-Mart?

There are nursing refresher courses available and some hospitals offer re-entry classes.
Maybe try those avenues first. It can't hurt, and the pay is better than Walmart.

You might also look at private duty home care. After my SAHM hiatus- I was welcomed back there and eventually got back into the hospital environment. Peds private duty is especially welcoming as there is a huge need. The pay kinda sucks- but that may not be a factor for you right now.

This is my suggestion as well. In my experience these agencies will hire pretty much anyone with a pulse and a nursing license.
