Good thread, Jen. I was thinking of doing the same thing. After we get in class we'll definitely have to tell people on to this site! I hope we can meet more people on here, too, before class starts.

I don't know why I have 2 names? lol I clicked to start the thread and another name was on there? I guess I must have joined this site twice? LOL

First of all congratulations for getting into a program such as practical nursing. I am a recent graduate and enjoyed my education that I received. You didn't mention how long you had been out of a school, but a couple of things prior to entering the program at RETS. First of all, make sure you are focused on the studies. Things can come at you in a quick manner. The initial anatomy class is tough and requires some studying to be sucessful getting through it. A strong committment will also be very helpful. By the way, I reentered the school in the ADN (Assoc. degree of Nursing) program.

Good luck and give the tall bald guy a shout in the hallway......

Hey thanks so much for the info. I myself will have my 10th high school reunion this summer so it's been a while since I've sat in a classroom. I do have 10 years experience as a pharmacy tech so I'm pretty confident about the medical math and terminology but I am sweating the A&P course. BTW way, how do you expect we'll have the breath to say hi in the hallway when I've seen the amount of books we'll be struggling to carry!!! LOL Also, congratulations to you on your recent graduation and continuing your education. I haven't made the decision if I'm continuing through to the ADN program immediately or if I'll work first. I'd like to hear how you're doing!

The Pharmacy Tech will be a major asset for you in the 2nd term pharm class. Dr. Misner is fair but strict in his instructions. I ended up with honors, and actually received an award at the end. However, I was fortunate to have a medical background for 14 years prior to entering the LPN program. I plan on doing well throughout my ADN program, however, I will not stress over the A's anymore. If you have questions, email me directly if you want.

Thanks for popping in on the thread, depmed1397. I enjoy hearing good things. There are MANY negative things about rets out there. In fact I have started to go there a few times and decided not to because of what people say.

I have been in college a lot ;). I was at Sinclair for a long time, also went to OIP&T and got a associates in medical office management and also became a paramedic. I have worked at MVH for 7.5 years now, so I have a good understanding of medical terms.

Hopefully we will get some people joining us soon!!

I have an appointment Monday and she said I could start the April program if we could get everything together on time, so I hope it works out. I currently go to Miami University, but it's SO hard to get into their nursing program and I just want to get it done!! I've been at Miami for three years for psychology and just decided to change majors.

Does anyone know much about financial aid at RETS?

Hello,

The financial Aid is fairly easy to complete. However, you have to have your committment papers completed with Diane, or whoever your rep. is prior to meeting with Financial Aid. You can do your FASA paperwork on line. If you have filed your taxes already for 2007, you should be able to submit them for April. If they tell you that you have to pay something monthly, tell them you can only pay $50.00 a month (sometimes they don't tell you that, but it is the minimum they require)

That will keep them satisfied. (Business office).

If you can get in the April program, do it. The quicker the better.

We have so many people that went through Sinclair and Miami and struggled so much to get into the program. I have been at RETS for over a year (PN program, and now starting the ADN II). Things are nice, if you go in with a positive attitude and expect to get out what you put in.

There is classroom work, but alot of self-motivation for outside of school.

I have some undiagnosed OCD issues when it comes to school and how I perform. I have to do my absolute best or I feel I have let myself down.

Speaking of that, I must go study for finals next week.

Cheers, and good luck with everything.

Thanks!! I already have filed taxes and have my FAFSA complete and added RETS to the school part. Hopefully they'll pay enough to make it possible. I probably won't qualify for financial aid until JUly because I am currently enrolled at Miami and have used it there. I am so frustrated going to school and feeling like I'm going no where. I am dedicated and want to get this done already!! Hopefully being in school for three years full time will help out. I work in a psych ward at an area hospital so I'm in the field I want to be in as a PCA...I just want more!! :) :D Thanks for the help, Diane is who I'm meeting with and she sounded so nice and listened to me vent about my frustrations....I hope it all works out!!

Good luck with all. If not Financial Aid, there is always Loans

Diane and I have developed a nice rapport with each other.
