Hello Everyone. My name is Kristina & I'm returning here after 4 years.I graduated from Vocational Nursing School 6 years ago & failed the NCLEX twice that first year. After some discouragement combined with a job opportunity I could not refuse, life took its course and 4 years have passed to present day.Recently, I've been doing some soul searching and realized that the NCLEX has been a life goal I have regretted not completing. I'm back and am seeking your help.I have prepared a set of questions that I hope you all can answer.:-Am I eligible to take the course in California again? If not, what is the process?-Do you recommend any refresher courses?Have any of you used technology such as iPad apps to study?I'm nervous about taking on this endeavor once again, but I'm excited to be back. I would love to hear from anyone who is in the same boat.Good Luck to us all! :)

Hey there,
I am in the same boat as you are but i have been testing every year whichI think is bad.
Everyone recommends to appear within 45 days after ur failure. So i have planned to do this time.
1.I live in New york so i have no idea
2.No idea
3.IT's up to you but in my thinking u should know your content and try to understand each content.
For that use saunders comprehensive review.Saunders explain everything in detail because u haven't tested
for 4 yrs(it is a long time). When i give test every year i do not remember anything.
After understanding every content in detail(it's so overwhelming) i would recommend using kaplan course book if you have enrolled in past.Questions and content plays vital role in NCLEX-RN exam(known from my own experience).Study your content as it is asked in NCLEX-RN exam.
For example:Management of care, safety and infection control etc.
I failed because i hate doing questions. Every time i appear NCLEX-RN i practiced less than 1000 questions.
Understand the NCLEX-RN exam strategies and for this i would highly recommend Kaplan 2011-2012 strategy book.

These are my personal opinion. It may or may not work for you.Yes, i understand you have to work to be financially strong.
That is why i test once in a year(every time i quit the job and suddenly realize i do not meant to be this)
There something else i meant to be.I have not gave up my dream and u should not either.
All the best to you:up:

you can find most of your answers to your questions by contacting BON in your state or go to their website, while one state can allow you up to 3yrs to test, another state may not even have a limit, i found out that washington state does not have a limit, by calling them on behalf of a fellow allnurses RN to be. :)
if you still remember your content, you dont have to take a review class but if not i would recommend taking one, its worthy the money. Hurst or kaplain are both good. i have not used any of the IPAD app so i dont know, practice makes perfect. by practing questions and reading rationals, it defintely helps alot. Saunders is pretty good with content. you can read a chapter then do questions on the particular chapter, been out of scool for school doesnt mean you can pass the exam, it just means you need to focus and study., as you make friends here alot of ppl will share good advice and some materials that theyare using. all the best you can do it
Thank you for your comments. :) I think the first step for me before even trying to plan my studies is to see if I can still test.
Yay! Just found out I can retest :)
