Retaining Information from A&P

That is exactly why I havent taken any online courses. I just know I do much better in a classroom setting. I dont know how much you need to retain, but noone is going to remember everything. I think the important thing is that you have been exposed, and I think a lot of it will come back when discussions come up in nursing school.

I am taking A&P 2 also. It is so interesting, and I love the class, but lab is kind of boring. I hate those slides. :mad:

Hello, I am two semesters away from completing all my prereq's for nursing. I have a question, how much info from A&P must I retain once I am in nursing school? Don't get me wrong, I know A&P is a very important class for nursing....I received a B in A&P 1 and am currently in A&P 2 but they are both online and I feel that I am not getting everything out of the class that I should. For instance, in A&P 1 we had one week on the bones and the next week on the muscles....I still do not know every single bone and muscle in the human body. I have the main ones down but not all of them.....will I totally bomb out in nursing school? It just seems like we cover so much information in one weeks time. I do ok on the tests but that is because it is open book. I comprehend the basics, I just couldn't tell you the specifics. Is this normal or should I go all the way back to the beginning?

Explain the stuff to other people. I honestly didn't think I took that much away from A&P until people startted asking me questions about something or another and I just startted babling about it.

Yeah what the poster above said. Honestly, you'll remember the important stuff, and you can refresh yourself on the other stuff. I do think we spent several weeks on bones, mucles and joints in my course, but it was structured differently from yours. I haven't done online courses yet, apart from a short one semester course, so not sure how I would go with something as complex as A&P online! Well done!

Thank you all for your responses. I feel a little better. I think I will try to do some reviewing when I have time. A&P has sooooo much information, I am not sure what parts I really need to have stick and what parts might be ok if I just have the general idea...

I wish I would have gone to class for A&P, it is very overwhelming on line.

You need to retain alot of imformation special about the bones. Last week I was learning about where to give injections, the Acromion Process and the Trochanter came up and I had to remember those locations. Make sure you know the anatomical positions well.

floyd. . .let me reassure you that you will be OK in your nursing classes. When you are in your actual nursing classes, as you study the various medical diseases the first thing you will do is review the normal anatomy and physiology of the body system and/or each particular organ involved. You will then proceed to learn where things went wrong to produce the disease. This is called pathophysiology. Your nursing study then turns to the treatment of the disease, but you need to understand the pathophysiology to understand the treatment. So, save your anatomy and physiology book and any notes or supplemental notes you may have been given by your online instructor. You will need them for review when the time comes. For now, just continue with your course, and good luck!

Thank you so much! I have been doubting myself a lot lately. I sometimes think that maybe I am getting in over my head. I will continue on with my studies and do some more general anatomy reviewing.....I am hoping to get into Colorado University spring 2007.
