How much time do you spend with the resident. I am getting less and less and being told that our facility is way over budget on MDS hours. Do you read the pain question word for word like you are supposed to? I just really wonder what everyone is doing and how they are doing it. I just don't have enough hours in the day for everything they expect me to do!

I try to spend about 10-15 minutes with each resident for the interviews. You have to read the questions word for word. This allows me to sit and chat with the resident because believe it or not the information will come in handy later for quarterly write ups or CAAs. Something I do, on Mondays, I set my ARD's for the quarterlies and annuals.. and interview the residents. I have 48beds that I am responsible for some of those are long term but some are Med A. It is a lot of work. If your Administrators are worried bout overtime, tell them you are trying to be compliant so there are no defaults. I personally worry if I'm going to be late.
