Research

I have 5yrs of hospital and clinic nursing experience and I've become interested in research. I've been researching a lot on the forums, websites, and watching videos about research nursing. After doing some research for several months, I still feel like I don't have a lot of info.

Is is possible for experienced nurses to volunteer or shadow at research facilities to get a better idea of the profession? I was seriously thinking about calling some organizations near my area, but later thought that it would be a bad idea since I'm not presently a student. However, I do plan to apply to a RN-BSN program and start next year. I've also pondered the idea of maybe going to a research conference to gain more information.

What do you guys think I should do?
