It's horrifying that violent felons with chronic health issues and nowhere else to go can end up across the hall from our little old ladies.
Desperation to fill beds is clearly clouding judgement.

I try to make it a habit to check the sex offender registry before admitting anyone, but since many offenders are never reported or arrested, it's a limited search. There are thousands of violent offenders in prison getting older and sicker. Many people think there should be a special kind of nursing home for these people. I'm one of them. Keep those murderers and old gang members away from my frail elders.

We have a registered sex offender in our facility. He had failed to register for some years, and by the time he was found out he was with us. Instead of hauling him off to jail for failing to register, they merely registered him at our address. Cheaper for the state, I suppose. He is A/O, but is still disgusting. He is ridiculously inappropriate at times, in behavior and remarks. He has not assaulted anyone that I am aware of, but I worry. I am hoping beyond hope that our new administrator gives him his 30 day notice. He is woefully inappropriate in this environment. Several calls to the MD, soc services referrals, psych eval/tx's have done nothing to mitigate behaviors. He is what he is and doesn't belong in a building with a vulnerable population, IMHO.
Hi, thank you for your comments. Would you be interested in sharing your thoughts and perceptions in this matter in a 30-40 minute one-on-one telephone interview?

You and the NSA are protecting my identity? No thanks. I've said no to many admissions because they were on the sex offender registry. Trouble is, so many offenders aren't reported so they are out there and we sometimes have the misfortune of getting them.

Agree....how many people commit crimes and NEVER get caught, or people who never come forward, especially if it's a FAMILY member??
Thanks for your thoughts.
