Schools who offer nurse anesthetist program require at least one year acute care work experience. If I had 2 year ICU experience a few years ago, does this meet the requirement? Or should the one year acute care experience be the most recent?

I'm pretty positive most schools want at least 1 year recent experience. Best thing to do is call the school and ask.

As you know, the field of medicine/nursing changes fairly rapidly. Recent experience would be best. Get yourself as proficient with all of the drugs, ventilators, invasive lines/techniques as possible. I would also suggest that you try to make some arrangements with one of the CRNA's in your facility to shadow him/her for a few days if possible.

Thanks for Sandman's suggestion. I am in Med-Surge floor. It is really busy. This is my first job in the US. I am so frustrated since I cannot read doc's handwriting. Their orders are illegible.
