Published

Just been accepted into nursing school but need to complete two courses before mid August. most online even require prereq. class. appreciate any advice.

First congratulations on being accepted! Not really sure what your question is though. Do you want to know more about these classes?

Human Growth and Development is easy and you could pass it online by just reading the book. Statistics, though, not so sure.

That is weird. Most schools require chemistry prior to nursing school; never heard of needing statistics first.

Specializes in Peds, Float, Ambulatory, Telemetry (new).

Congrats on getting into the program! Only advice I have for you is to study hard and stay focused.

Human growth and development should be easy. Thought about the CLEP for that one?

Statistics..you probably do want to take an intro to college math or something. That is a hard class.

Could you see if the school you're taking it at will settle for awesome scores on the math section of a placement test as your prereq for statistics?

Best of luck.

Get a stats for dummies book, that was better than my textbook. I actually had to take stats twice, it was that hard to me... Just think of it as figuring what mathematical operations to use to complete the word problem. That's how i aced it the second time.

I took both classes online. I'm not gonna lie...Stats was NOT an easy course. It took up a lot of time doing all the homework and practice problems, but it was worth the time & effort to get an A. If you're fairly good at math already (have at least an understanding of algebra and know what "area under the curve" means when you look at a graph), you should be fine. If you struggle with math, then try taking it as a face-to-face course.

Human Growth & Development was a breeze! Should be an easy A. Hardest part of the class was writing a final research paper. Even then, that wasn't too difficult.

Congrats on getting accepted into nursing school!

CLEP human growth! I tested out for that one and a history I think... can't remember now. Anyway there is a website called instantcert and it pretty much spoon feeds you the stuff on the clep tests. Stats is a pain and if you are good at figuring stuff out on your own, take it online and if not, take it in person. I'm good at figuring stuff out, love online classes and I swear I put more hours into that class than any other class I've ever taken.
