Relocating across the country

Published

Hi, there has been one main thing on my mind that I think almost anything could help ease my anxiety. I am a student and will be graduating in about 6 weeks! My husband graduated with his nursing degree last year and is working locally here waiting for me to finish school. We don't live in a very big community and we are moving across the country for the "big city feel". We both want to try something new and are looking forward to the change. However, as I have been at the same hospital for the past two years I am comfortable here with policy and procedures and the staff. Even with the nursing shortage everywhere you turn why don't hospitals jump at the chance of hiring new grads? Many hospitals say they have new grad residency programs but I feel with all my contact I'm more of a bother than a future employee. I would have a job if I stayed here but trying to deal with someone across the country is frustrating and I am nervous that things may be too "different" . Has anyone up and moved to a different area and how were your experiences? Any tips?
