Hello!
I have just accepted a position at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News Va. I will be relocating from New Jersey. I was wondering if anyone had ideas at what the best areas to live in the city are? i looked at some apartments but there are so many to choose from...and i would really like to be sure the area is safe. Also if anyone has any info about the hospital that would be great. I was there for my interview and once afterward but am not to familiar with the hosp besides that. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I spent some time there about 2 years ago (as a PT), its a very nice hospital. Its located up by Patrick Henry airport, which is mostly suburbs. You don't have to live in Newport News proper, you are right on the border of York county there and will have plenty of nice neighborhoods to choose from. Even if you choose to live in NN, there are very nice places too. You could also look at Hampton or over by Williamsburg. I would avoid the south side so you dont have to deal with tunnels. A trip of about a week to scout things out before you come down for good would be well advised.
Good Luck.
