i just got my letter this morning. Honestly, i was a bit sad but i was not beating myself up on it. I don't have the opportunity of just schooling so i had to work and go to school as well. i have a GPA of 3.1 and i'm currently taking elective classes to while away time till i get accepted. i took a&P 2 in the summer and due to its intensity came out with a c+, i needed that before taking microbiology the next semester so i had to. i am thinking that is the reason why i was rejected because my interview went well. i refuse to give up and will continue to better myself or my grades. i meet with my advisor soon to find out if i need to take anymore courses during fall or just take a semester off. MTSU is very hard to get in and i understand this but at the same time i've never been the one to give up on anything in life so i will continue to strive till i reach my goals. I am putting this up because i hardly see any MTSU pre req nurses or nursing students on here so i decided to do this and its very therapeutic as well :).

I'm so sorry to hear your news I can't even imagine how disappointed you are. (((HUGS))). Could you perhaps retake you A&P 2 class and pull out an "A". I know most nursing programs look very closely at your science grades, especially A&P grades. I wish you the best of luck and hope that you don't give up and apply again next year or at least check into some other nursing programs. :)
i was willing to retake A&P but in MTSU they give first priority to students who successfully pass (c or better) their sciences on the first try. i asked my advisor and she told me it was ok,now i really don't know what to do! thank you soo much for replying as well

3 people in my A&P II class have been rejected by MTSU as well. Keep trying!

I'm sorry.
I fully know that feeling of rejection, and it hurts.
I hope that you don't give up and keep trying!

Did you talk to Helen Gleason? She keeps emailing me about an interview, but I don't know if MTSU is really worth the drive or not. How was the nursing school there? Is it all in one building? and do you know where your clinicals would be ?

It took me a couple semesters to get into mtsu's nursing program. I would apply again and maybe try for a better hesi score. now since you know the basic questions they are going to ask in the interview, you should be a little more prepared for that too. Ms. Gleason told me that many students have to apply 2 or 3 times before they get in. I would also definitely apply for a couple other schools in the area, because they always say to apply to more than one school. I would just take some classes this semester and try to get my gpa up and apply again.. Again, its not uncommon to be rejected the first time and get in the second time. keep your head up and good luck!

Clinicals are mainly at middle tn medical center, the new hospital in murfreesboro (the only hospital there) you could also do clinicals at St Thomas hospital in Nashville

May I ask what your hesi score was? I just applied for the fall of 2012 and am SO NERVOUS!!
I have a relatively low gpa (3.04) because I recently switched from pre-med to pre-nursing. I only have three C's, meaning I have mostly B's with some A's (the B's were mostly in the harder science classes that as of now are unnecessary).
I have a 90 on the hesi, and never got another chance to retake it.
However, I am hoping I will get maybe some "bonus points" on my interview, because I plan to do very well on it, and I come from a family with extensive medical experience (My father was a doctor in family practice, and my mother is an APN, FNP). I know they can't give me extra points or anything, but I'm hoping the knowledge of the field and job-expectancies will make up for any answers I give that may not be considered "favorable."

Just saw this post come up on google when I was pulling up deadlines for a friend. I am in 3rd semester now. I had a 3.2, extra work experience, 85 on hesi. Anp 1- A anp2-C. no retakes! Hope this helps!
I'm so sorry that i'm now getting back to this. I got my acceptance letter this morning. I took a semester to improve my GPA. i applied with a 3.5 and 93% on my Hesi. I still can't believe it but i'm very grateful that i have been given this opportunity. I had so many people discouraging me and telling me how it would be impossible to get in. I'm glad i didn't give up, and still pushed my dreams. Yes it's hard to get into MTSU but with hard work and patience you'll eventually get in. Don't give up. I start in the fall, and to anyone that got accepted as well, Congratulations.
oh and i didn't retake my A&P either, just like my adviser asked me not to.
