Registering in UK but not working there?

So a bit of a funny question and its possible some people might not know the answer. I'm Irish and directly qualified as a midwife in 2018 and have been working since then in Ireland. My ultimate goal is to work in the Cayman Islands for a few years starting in 2022. It seems that the Cayman Islands only accept qualifications from certain countries including the UK. I was wondering if its possible to register with the NMC as a midwife without actually working in the UK and being registered in the UK for a year or more without ever actually working there?

I'm looking into other possibilities about whether my registration in Ireland is valid but am just exploring all options. Thanks in advance!

You would need to ask the NMC that question. They do reply, it takes time, but they do eventually.
