Please check out the Canadian Nurses Association for courses that you can take pertaining to psychiatric nursing. They offer lots of courses and examinations that will give you a CNA certification in your specialty. I'm not sure if they have one in mental health but I'm sure they do. In terms of becoming a nurse practitioner the CNA lists courses that are offered to achieve this designation and links to these universities. Please check them out here Canadian Nurses Association

I'm wondering this too! In the US psych NPs are in great demand and make high salaries, which I would definitely do if we stayed in the US, but my husband is canadian and we are going to move north. I am trying to figure out what advanced psych nursing options there are too!

University of Brandon offers Masters in Psych Nursing, though I've never heard of a Psychiatric NP.

To get an idea of advanced psychiatric nursing jobs in Ontario, look on the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) employment opportunities, there are currently postings for an advanced practice nurse and a nurse practitioner.

Psychiatric nursing jobs in Ontario would require a general nursing degree.A psych degree from MB wouldn't get you a nursing license in Ontario.
