I've been reading this site for the last 3 years, but now, post NCLEX, I had to register so I could say thank you to the posters who stay here, obviously beyond their own testing dates, to be the voice of reason when there are so many rumors swirling.
First, you need to know, I went the distance, all 265 questions. Like almost everyone else, I walked out certain I failed. I had been #1 in my nursing class and it seemed all my classmates were finishing and passing with 75 questions. However, I have a disability
diagnosis (yes, I test with accommodations) and knew I would have more obstacles than someone walking in without one. Still, I was feeling more and more stupid and discouraged as I watched the question count climb.
So so what did you at allnurses teach me?
1. People pass at 265 and fail at 75.
2. The ncsbn website explains pretty clearly how tests are scored. When you get 265, all questions are scored and you are either above the passing standard or you are not. You have to be above passing in all competency areas to pass the test.
3. Don't waste time obsessing about the last question(s). Mine was a simple, straightforward math question, not even dosage related.
4. Don't stress yourself out with the PVT. I didn't want to risk $200. Even if I had used an invalid credit card, seeing the "bad" pop-up would have devastated me and I wouldn't have had faith in the good one since the trick isn't 100% accurate.
I passed, using the same mix of the resources most people on the site use. But I think the great information on this site made the excruciating wait more bearable.
Thank you
