I received acceptances to NEU's DEN Program and MGH IHP's DEN Program, both for their Psych/Mental Health NP specialty tracks. I also interviewed for Regis' Accelerated BSN/MSN Program this past week, and will hear back soon with a decision. NEU would like a decision from me by 2/24 and I am becoming overwhelmed comparing the pro's and con's of each program, reading many posts on this website and reaching out to many graduates of each program. I understand that only I can make the best decision for my future. I would appreciate any input from anyone currently enrolled/graduates of any of these programs.
Last minute, I also applied to Salem State University's Second Degree Accelerated BSN Program. If I complete the 15 month BSN program and later apply to an MSN program, I could save around $40,000 total. I also potentially could work for a year (or longer) as an RN at either of the two companies I currently work for.
Are the DEN programs really worth the $40,000 extra? I am certain of my ultimate goal to become an NP. I'm unsure if graduation from an ABSN program would hinder my chance of acceptance to an MSN program. I also fear that the requirement for NP's will change to a DNP degree. Declaring a specialty with NEU and MGH IHP also scares me a bit, because I love psych, but fear that during clinical, I may find another passion.
So many thoughts running through my head. Please, any input will help!
Thank you!
