Refresher Clinical Instructor No Call/No Show

Hi all,

I'm new to this site & was looking for some feedback. I was an RN for 8 years prior to leaving the field for the past 9 years. I am enrolled in a nurse refresher program & recently completed 80 hrs of clinicals at a local hospital on a med/surg unit. Just one little problem...I didn't have an instructor at the clinical site for the past 2 shifts. I sent her a text letting her know I was on the unit and assigned to a nurse I had worked with before - no response. I asked my preceptor & charge nurse their thoughts & they didn't see a problem with it. The next time I looked up it was lunchtime and I texted the instructor again. She responded saying she wasn't scheduled to work, I was doing well & could call or text if needed. The classroom instructor/owner had confirmed that she would be there via email as well. It was a busy but uneventful 2 days. I hadn't needed her to observe anything other than an assessment on the day she was there, so she was probably bored to tears. I wasn't asked nor did I do anything I was uncomfortable with. Overall it was a really good clinical experience. The staff were all very receptive, helpful & appreciated my help as well. I'm thankful no issues came up, but what if they had? It just seemed unethical to me. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Wow....I ahve to say in some states this is NOT allowed and the program would be shut down. However I have recently tht there are states...your in particular that even do this to students without a license.
