Hello,
I am looking at living in Melbourne for 3-7 months (October 2006-May 2007) while my boyfriend is studying with a mathematics professor at the University there.
I am an RN with 4 years critical care experience, and just graduated as a Nurse Practitioner.
It sounds like I should 1)Look for a job 2) Have the place of employment help me nail down work visa details.
Would any hospital hire me for only 6 months or should I look for a travel company?
Any other advice?
Thank, Elisabeth

If you are after critical care, try Royal Melbourne Hospital, St Vincent's Hospital, or The Alfred Hospital. I worked at The Alfred and can recommend it - it has the largest critical care dept (combined trauma, cardiothoracics, burns and general) and I know we had overseas nurses working there often. I do think it was on a one-year contract, but you could ask them.
