I recently applied for a county jail LPN position posted on monster.com. It was about 10 days ago that I sent my resume via internet, and I called the phone number listed(same job) in our local newspaper. I left a message, but never received a call back. It was an agency doing the hiring.
Maybe, my resume sucked. I have not worked since 2004 due to health issues. I am currently on disability. I am trying to get back into nursing and hope to find a job that is non-physical. My background is mainly behavioral health. I worked in drug rehab and psych hospital. In the paper, they mentioned that no experience needed and new grads were welcomed to apply. Perhaps, I should not have mentioned that I had a background in psych.
My friend is an RN that worked in corrections. She strongly encouraged me to apply for the job.
IfI don't find the right LPN job, I may return to school for my RN. My counselor through the local OVR is working on getting me approved for RN training. But, I am 51 already! Yikes!!! But, I was hoping to get a call for this job. Oh well, I guess it just wasn't meant to be.
Just out of curiosity, any LPN's working in county jail? If so, how do you like it?
