Recent Emory University Wound Care graduates

I graduated from Emory's program last March and passed the boards in the summer. I did the distance learning path and then went to Atlanta for a week for Bridge week. At bridge week we went through wounds, ostomies and the continence, doing hands on work with the instructors. The professional practice module was given to us at the end of the week. YOu have to write papers, present and inservice and document your preceptorship hours. It's almost like doing a portfolio. IT is a good program; although one of my colleagues swears by Cleveland Clinic. Good luck with your journey!!

Hey! I'm finishing up the professional practice module via Emory now. I'm only getting certified in wound care. I'm in the distance learning program & I've loved it! You only go to Emory for 1 week. You choose who you present your inservice to. You only send your instructor an outline of the inservice & then a summary of how everything went after you present. You pick the topic & the instructor approves it & will also give you suggestions. I just submitted my outline Sunday & am planning to present my inservice to my coworkers next week!

My start date was October 15. They start new cohorts on the 1st & 15th of every month. It's very self paced. They give you 3 months to complete each module. I could have finished sooner but we've been shorted handed at work so that has taken up a lot of my time. For the wound module there are several video lectures to watch. There is 1 quiz, 2 case studies, & 2 exams. You go to bridge week at Emory then take a cumulative exam when you get home. Then you start your 40 clinical hours & the professional practice module. I think it's an excellent program & I really enjoyed bridge week. The staff are very encouraging & it's obvious that they want you to succeed!

I'm hoping to start on April 15th and go to bridge week in July. I'm a school nurse so I'm hoping to complete bridge week & do my clinical hours before I start the new school year. :up:

Hello - I'm greatly considering this program as well. I'm curious about the bridge week though. Do I need to attend a bridge week after each module is completed? Or can I complete all three online modules, then go to Emory for one week? It would increase the cost significantly for me if I had to travel there three times!

You complete the wound, ostomy, & continence modules online first then go to Emory for a week. After you return from Emory you take a final cumulative exam online then begin the professional practice module & your clinical hours.
