Hi Everyone,
I just received my CPNE date for August 15th at St. Joseph Hospital, Syracuse, NY. I applied January 24th for the CPNE. Two weeks ago I asked to change my site to the "new" Chambersburg location and they said that they changed it and be prepared to take it in August. I am just going to stick with my original request for Syracuse, because I do not want to wait longer. The date notification has really hit me hard. I have a lump in my throat and chest. I have been studying for the CPNE here and there. I need to start to study everyday now and carry my memory cards with me everywhere I go and study, study, study, practice, practice, practice. Just wanted to let everyone know. I will be sure to post when I get back. Again, this board is motivational and educational for me and I will continue to read the postings until I go to my CPNE. Talk with everyone in August. Your peer Loretta Jo - treeriver1966:bugeyes:

You'll be fine.
Wash your hands. A lot. You know how to do this stuff, you know how to calculate a drip rate, and you know how to select a nursing diagnosis and write an intervention. Heck, "Acute pain r/t surgical incision" and your NIC is "Administer pain med as ordered and reassess in 30 minutes." Your NOC is "Patient will state that pain is 3/10."
Put the bed back down. Put the call light back within reach. Put the bed alarm back on. Wash your hands for the gazillionth time.
You can do this.
Thanks Susquatch. I know I can too. I do know what I am doing. And I thank you again for reminding me of the basics. Keep it basic basic basic. It is just the date has made it a reality to me and a "big" wakeup call to get on the ball. In addition to taking several hours study and review time every day, I am going to start a vision board too at my study area. It will be pictures of everything on a board of everything I want out of the CPNE. Again, thanks. (Deep Breath....) loretta jo aka treeriver1966

Go go Loretta Jo!!!
Just a note ... EC discourages using "surgical incision" as part of the r/t -- it sounds like the surgeon is to blame. Instead, I'd use "tissue trauma." :) Same difference, but EC likes it that way, I hear.
