Hey everyone
I'm thinking about starting the nurses training. I've just been on the net doing some research and found this site. hopefully good for me to get a bit of insite into the nursing coreer. How do you find doing shift work? is it easy to move between different areas of nursing? and why become a nurse anyway.
I would appreciate any feedback,
Thanks

Welcome to Allnurses.
Lots of reasons to become a nurse, but I'm not sure how it is in New Zealand.
It's relatively easy to move within different areas here if you've got the right experience and training.
Good luck!

Welcome to allnurses!
Shift work is fine. You get to have time off when others are working, so you have the house to yourself! That's just one example.
Yes, you can move between diffferent area's of nursing, especially during clinicals while training/studying. After graduation you do a Graduate nurse programme, again, you get to experience different area's.
Why become a nurse? .......... Only you can answer that for yourself. For me, it was because I wanted to always be able to have a job. I wanted to do something 'real', with purpose and meaning. Nursing affords all those things.
Best wishes to you.
