RCC or Lomalinda University???

Published

I am currently attending RCC to get my pre-requisites to get into lomalinda, but lomalinda is so expensive. Would i be making a better choice if i stay at RCC and get my RN license there? and in the future get my bachelors? I need help from someone who has gone to RCC or Lomalinda please!! Will you start off making the same money?

Yes, you will start off making the same money. An RN is an RN. No distinction is made as to the school you went to as far as the state board of nursing is concerned. A couple of the differences between the two colleges are the names on the degrees that you would get and the fact that one is a state supported school and the other a private college.

Apply to both anyways though.

so i can go to rcc and hospitals will not descriminate on what school i went too? You can get your license anywhere basically. so with rcc i get an AS degree in RN and in Lomalinda i would get a Bachelors degree in nursing? i dont know, its so confusing to me. Cause i know lomalinda is a prestige school and rcc is just a community college , lomalinda just looks better on your resume?

That's right. An RN is RN. With a BSN you will likely get management or supervision jobs quicker as well. I've worked with some Loma Linda grads. Believe me, some of them weren't any better than nurses from community colleges.

Why not get your AS from RCC and your bachelors from Loma Linda? The only real advantage Loma Linda has is possibly getting hired into the Loma Linda system of hospitals due to having so many clinicals there.

Thank you, you guys are right. i think i will apply to as many colleges as i can, since many schools are impacted and so many people are applying, dont wanna be left out. ive also been looking at cal state san bernandino? because in the end, all the schools will get me what i untimately want, and thats to be an RN. and ofcourse in the future i want to further my education to hopefully a masters in nursing and i would HAVE to go to a university.

ReadyToRun, you raise a good point. i was thinking about doing that. since i am already a rcc student, that might be a better option for me. but i will indeed keep my options open and see whats best for me.

I just graduated from RCC and i just accepted a position at Loma Linda in their new grad program. I also know of another RCC student who also got hired. I am making the exact same pay with my associates as a nurse who has their bachelors. There were 345 applicants out of 13 positions. RCC has a great nursing program and local hospitals in the Inland Empire know this. Go with RCC, and yes I am bias. Lol. Then continue your education, with Cal State Fullerton or Dominguez Hills. You have so many options. Take the one that will save you ALOT of money but you still get the same results.

thank you so much.. i agree

RCC is a great school for nursing...you will save more money...
