What exactly is "para-nursing" and what do you feel falls under this subject? I was talking to an admissions coordinator about their nursing program, and on top on the nursing information he sent to me, he also sent me information on Respiratory Therapy because he said it was "para-nursing"...and I thought to myself, "what the heck is para-nursing???

Hands of the nurse?
Perhaps it is RN school marketing jargon for "allied health?"

I had never heard the term "para-nursing", so I did a quick google search just to see what I could find. It appears that some countries use the term para-nursing to describe the role of a CNA or Patient Care Assistant/Tech. I don't believe that a Respiratory Therapist would fall into this category (at least not in the United States).

when I read the title I thought of "para-normal," like investigating sick ghosts!
LOL! Ok, thanks for the replies! I think he was trying to get me to apply to their other programs also...does anyone know if respiratory therapy is similar to nursing?

no more so than x-ray tech, or pharmacy tech. I'm a Para-medic. I would suggest you google these jobs to see what they do. your going to need their help as a Nurse. We are all on the same team.
