Quickest way to get temp or license by endorsement for Cali

I took a travel nurse assignment in CA in 2006 and drove to the Sacramento office on the way to my assignment and did everything the same day in a 'walk through'. They sent me to the fingerprint office, and when I brought it back to the office and submitted my paperwork I received my temporary license the same day.

CAVEAT #1 I don't know if they still do this.

CAVEAT #2 If they do, you must still have the certificate of verification for your current license in your current state BEFORE you show up at the office - it can't be done the same day unless your state utilizes NURSYS.

Can anyone give me some info or suggestion on quickest way to obtain temp license or license by endorsement for Cali now that walk through law has changed. I am traveling nurse from Va.wanting to get to Cali soon, company I talked to today told me that I would have to email nursing Board and request fingerprint card, I attempted to do this states could take up to 2 months. What are the other requirements. And any suggestions on good Cali companies also appreciated.

Go to the Calif board of Registered Nursing. The info on how to obtain temp license and/or by endorsement is there. They will require a fingerprint, you should do it 'live scan'. You certainly can email the board with any questions. It takes them about a week to reply.

As to a short cut, no such thing--especially now that the state has money problems. In fact, the just indreased the fees.

OK, here is what you need to do. I did this a couple months ago, so it is the latest info. You have to travel to Cali to do the fingerprints, this is the live-scan version and can only be done in Cali. You can go to any city in Cali. Its either going to be at a sheriff office or a regular PD. There is a list of places that do it and how much they charge on the Cali board's website. you will need to do the fingerprints about two weeks before you visit the board in Sacramento. This is the only way to get the Cali license fast. Give me a shout if you have further questions.
