Quick Question: Necessary to disclose a job where I only worked two shifts?

Published

First of all, please forgive me if this is a silly question... :D

So I'm a new grad RN, and I happily accepted my very first nursing job in LTC two weeks ago. Needless to say, after lots of schedule changes and miscommunication, I finally was able to work two shifts. At the end of my 2nd shift and 2 of the 3 scheduled training/orientation days... I decided to call the DON and politely resign. I thanked her for the opportunity and told her that I was sorry, but that I felt that I just was not a good fit. I will go ahead and spare all of you the drama of what went down to cause me to quit my one and only job offer....but let's just say that I felt like working there would put my license in jeopardy... Anyways, with all of the reference checks, background screening, drug tests, etc that go on in this business, is the fact that I worked somewhere for a few days going to show up in some sort of data base? I omitted this fact in a recent interview and was hired, pending background check, etc and am just wondering if I should have mentioned it? Thanks for reading!

Some people say that you can omit jobs where you didn't last through the probationary period, usually 90 days. Frankly, I don't know what the rules are, other than you are supposed to be honest. If you get caught lying, you can be terminated. But people get away with it all the time. I haven't seen anyone post anything definitive about this practice before, so I guess it is a decision the individual has to ponder and make for themself.
