For those who have taken NCLEX: which of the review books did you think had questions that were most similar to those on NCLEX in terms of level of difficulty and question format?
I did ATI Live review back in mid-May, but they have a small selection of practice exam questions. I was supplementing with an old Lippincott Q&A book, but the questions were primarily straight recall, and I know that's not going to prepare me for the NCLEX.
I just want to use the review book that is going to most closely resemble what I see when I sit down for this exam next month. Thanks!

NCSBN provides core content and questions similar to NCLEX; you can review rationales to the questions and they have the links to the sources.
I have answered questions during NCLEX that were VERY similar to the NCSBN. I known cohorts who ONLY used NCSBN and passed the first time.
I also used Liponcott and Saunders NCLEX flash cards for question review, which questions were similar to NCLEX as well.
To add:
The issue may not necessarily the source of the review, but how one approaches the NCLEX itself: understanding the four concepts of becoming a competent, entry-level nurse:
1. Safe, effective care;
2.Health promotion;
3.Physiological Integrity;
4.Psychosocial integrity
Will determine WHAT the question is asking you; the question may be Respiratory related-but is it a Health Promotion or a Safety, or a Physiological or a Psychosocial one? Would you know the difference and choose the BEST answer?
Once one understands the concepts of NCLEX, they can do so successfully.
Best wishes.
LadyFree28 - thank you for the reply; I will check out the NCSBN site.

I can't really compare, as I only had ATI for school, then used Kaplan. I felt that the ATI questions were more like the lower level (non-passing) questions, and that the Kaplan questions were harder than anything I saw on the NCLEX, which I passed in 75 questions.

Kaplan, hands down. They're even the same color and font as NCLEX.
Thanks!

Hey, I was reading post. I like the way you discussed these four concepts. Can you please elaborate for me. How to pick answers keeping in mind these four concept's.

I agree. ATI was similar to basic questions and Kaplan was similar to difficult questions! I passed in 75 questions and I used both resources :)!
The best sources in describing in detail the information are two links; one is Kaplan, the other is NCSBN-the makers of NCLEX:
http://www.kaptest.com/NCLEX/Learn-About-NCLEX/About-NCLEX-RN/nclex-rn-clients.html
https://www.ncsbn.org/2013_NCLEX_RN_Test_Plan.pdf
That should guide your way in terms of what questions the NCLEX generally ask.
