75 Questions and "Results on Hold" from Pearson Vue

Hello all,

I was hoping someone could give me some peace of mind. I recently graduated from an ADN program and took my NCLEX this afternoon (horrible idea, 4th of July weekend and on a Friday! wasn't thinking...) To give you some background, I am a 3.8 student, got a 97% on the ATI, took Kaplan (kind of half-youknowwhat to speak the truth d/t me being quite sick the week I took it), and probably did about 5000 questions in preparation total. I did not do an organized study plan, just did questions every day for a few weeks.

My NCLEX consisted of 75 questions: 5-6 SATA, 2 hotspots, and I don't know if it was my nerves or what but I can hardly remember the questions. There a few that I have recalled and sadly know I got wrong now. Some of the things that were covered I had no clue about (which I hear is a good sign?) and it seemed like NOTHING I studied (and our instructors told us to study!!) came up: ABGs, dietary, f/e balances, endocrine, etc. etc. etc. I should add that I finished my test in under half an hour. I am historically a very fast reader/test taker, which I know isn't always a good thing but it seems like it works for me.

When it shut off at 75, I almost passed out. I actually had to go sit in the hallway after before driving because I was so dizzy. I was positive I failed and called my boyfriend crying. I tried the PVT very shortly thereafter, and got a message that says, "The candidate currently has results on hold." I have been checking neurotically every hour or so but realize that it's the weekend, no one is going to review my case! I am almost 100% I got flagged d/t the speed of my exam. I know I will probably just have to wait til Monday...but AHHHHHGHGHADKAFLKFSK!!!!!

I am so scared that a. I failed, and b. I am going to have to call my hospital on Monday and tell them that I can't work for another month (the manager who hired me said she'd hold my position for me, even if I failed the NCLEX the first time).

What do you think the chances of me having passed are?

Do many people fail in 75 qs?

And if I had failed in 75 questions, do you think my results would still be on hold or that I would have been able to register?

Any thoughts/experiences/good vibrations on this are sooo appreciated!

Results on hold can happen for many reasons. If there was an odd pattern to your question answering, if you wrote on the whiteboard before the test started, or maybe because you finished so quickly. That doesn't give any indication of pass/fail.

Many people pass at 75 or fail at 75, there is nothing to be deciphered from the amount of questions you had. I know that's frustrating but it's true.

Please try to take deep breaths and hold out to either get quick results, get a good pop up, see your name/license number on your state board, or get your official results. Good luck!

SAME EXACT THING happened to me. 75 questions, took it on a Thursday and it said "results on hold" until Tuesday when quick results were finally available. I think Pearson is on to the "PVT". It's like a ploy to get people to just pay for quick results? I dunno...that's what I'm thinking. I bet you passed. I did. :) I know you won't relax until you find out though.

Exact same thing happened to me, 75 questions and a ton of SATAs and mine was on hold for a day, then I found out I passed. Mine was on hold because I took it too fast.

An update: I called Pearson Vue and NCSBN and they were not helpful in the least!

But around 5pm my Quick Results showed up and I PASSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

congrats!!! I pray I can say that after Wednesday!!

I pray after Tuesday that I can say that I passed!
