Questions for any current/ past UTHealth Nursing students!!

Published

Hello! I just applied for Spring 2019 at UTHealth Cizik School of Nursing and I am currently waiting for my results. I don't really have any one I know that is in UTHealth and I wish I did because I have a few questions. I know the school will hold a Forum around December that anyone can attend, but I don't think I can wait that long.

1. I am currently taking Microbiolab and Chem lab to fulfill my prerequisites. Recently, I got a letter that tracked my progress and shows what class credits the school accepted. It turns out that they accepted my other chem lab to fulfill my chem prerequisites. Is there any consequence if I drop my current chem lab now? I know I will get a W, but will that affect the fate of my acceptance to UThealth?

2. The website says that working is not recommended for students who are currently in the program. Does anyone have thoughts or experiences on that?

3. What does your typical week look like as a student? How many classes do you take a day? How many credits are you doing this semester?

4. What are clinicals and what do you do there? Do you have to travel to go to clinicals? I'm asking the last question because I am planning to commute.

5. I am currently a student at UH. Does UTHealth require you to drop from your college, and you are not allowed to take or do anything besides their courses? I kind of wanted to take a beginner spanish class somewhere (maybe even like a private tutor), but I really don't know how stressful the program will be.

6. Whats the hardest thing about this program right now? (Could be a class, could be the commute to class, could be making friends, could be a cumulative of things)

Please tell me what year you are currently in the UTHealth Nursing program.
