Hey guys! I just found out that I got accepted to Chamberlain and if everything goes well I'm starting in March. I have a few questions that I was wondering you guys can help me out with...
1. Money---
How did you pay for it? Are they generous with grants? Is there some1 who already had a Bachelors? Since you cant get grants how did you pay for it?
2. Teachers and classes---
How are they? Any experince or advice?
3. Overall experience---
WOuld you recommend this school?

Hi lizzle818,
If you have a bachelors already you pretty much are just stuck with getting loans. You still need to fill out a FASFA form, and then you can receive loans through the school...I believe the loan amount is 10,500 Freshman & Sophomore, then it goes up to 12,500 for Junior and Senior level. If your tuition is more then you usually have to take out a personal/private education loan...which different banks have different types of education loan programs.
This is pretty much based on my experience from being a student in an Accelerated program after having a bachelors from another school already, we don't get the grants and stuff like before because we have our undergrad degree.
hope this helps...
Hi elppaym,
Thanks so much for replying... Hey are you at Lewis?? I got accepted there too and it looks like that's a cheaper route than Chamberlain... SO I might be going there... I'm on a waitlist for Aug 2010 and a sure thing for Jan 2011....
I wanted to ask you about Lewis if you don't mind.... I went to the Info Session earlier this month and honestly I got a lil discouraged from their unprofessionalism..... sorta.... I was wondering if you got the same feeling from them considering you're in the actual prog?
How are the profs? Can you please let me know about the pros and cons of the program...? Thanks...
I'm hoping that was just the Info Session and not the whole program *cross fingers*
I'll really appreciate it. Thank you very much!

hey lizzle818 and elppaym,
i was just wondering... i will be applying for lewis for the accelerated bsn and was just wondering how competitive it was... also... how many ppl do u think were on the wait list? did they tell you u are definately in but just need a seat?
thanks,
Liz
@eszwajn
how competitive it was...
Truthfully, I think the beginning part of the application isn't competitive at all. I had to take the KAT test, which is essentially a basic math and english test. When I took it they said they're not looking at the Science component but it might have changed. Check w/ them. Also, you only need a 2.75 and by NS standard that's pretty uncompetitive.
how many ppl do u think were on the wait list?
Not sure but given the initial phase of the application, I'd say there's probably quite a few.
did they tell you u are definately in but just need a seat?
I asked them about this since they're already talking about the next step (taking pre-term classes) while I didn't get an acceptance letter yet. Rachel said acceptance is dependent on whether you pass the pre-term classes (Patho and 3 other humanities class) or not. So I guess technically you're not officially accepted until after you finish these classes and not fail them.
Good luck!

I will be attending Chamberlin in the Spring as well. I was just wondering if youve had your meeting with student services yet and if so how did it go? I was also wondering if you know what the schedule is for the pre reqs and if books are included in tuition. Thank you for any information you can provide!
Hi carwhite17,
I dont think I had the meeting with Student Services yet.... all I remember was that after I got accepted I had to meet with the counselor and discuss financial aid stuff... Kenya broke down how much it will cost, how much gov't loans and out of pocket expense, how long will the program take, and which classes I should take on every semester,.... The pre req schedule kinda depends on the credits you ahve coming in... and book s are NOT included in the tuition....
BTW I won't be attending Chamberlain, even though it seems like a good program, its too pricey for me especially since I have tons of loans from my 1st bachelor.... I will be attending another school next year.... But good luck to you and happy new year!!!

Hey everyone,
I'm a current Chamberlain student in my 4th semester, and so close to graduation that I can taste. Thus far, I've loved it at Chamberlain. It's a bit pricey I know, but worth it I feel. I've used loans because financial aid has SUCKED since I started. The government is just not giving any money. The nursing professors I've had are fantastic. They know their stuff! And they make sure you know it too. The clinical instructors are just as good. I think I've had one total that I didn't like. I'm not sure how some of the new ones are because a lot of them have changed, but everyone seems to like them. The clinicals are good. They try to get the best sites possible. Of course you are going to run into nurses that aren't student-friendly, but it happens. Thus far, I've enjoyed it, but I know others haven't. I've done very well thus far, so it is possible. Just bust your butt and put school first. It's like any other nursing school, you're gonna have to work!
