Questions on Apollo College and Vegas

So I'm a new grad (RN program) from Apollo College here in Vegas. There is so much hear say in nursing I feel as if my head is spinning. My questions are: Has anyone heard of any schools out there that will accept Apollo College credits for a BSN program? (I have heard so many bad things about the University of Phoenix that I'm trying not to go there). Also, what is the deal with working out of state? I called the NY state board of nursing and they said that as long as the school I graduated from was "recognized by the state where it is located" that I should be fine to work in NY. I then asked what she meant by recognized and she said that some colleges are "fly by night" and close up within a week...if I'm able to sit for the NCLEX (which I'm taking Sept. 12th) I should be fine. I'm so confused and get different answers from everyone I talk to...help! Thanks!!

i heard somebody talking about this saturday when i was at work. they said the credits won't transfer to other colleges because it is still provisonal license... and yes it was apart of univ of phenoix... maybe you could get your BSN through unive of phenoix because they are run by the same company...

i also heard that apollo had only a 64% pass rate on recent boards and thats why they now have to have 360 hour preceptorship before you can graduate and pass boards,

i am not sure about all this and we have a grad from apollo she told me this ... but i am sure you can get more insight...

take care and good luck on boards

Yeah the pass rate for the first class wasn't as high as it should be but I think that is common for most new programs. I looked more into it and there are colleges in Phoenix that accept Apollo credits, the program down there is a more established

I'm currently in the RN program at apollo, and taking the nursing courses. There have been a lot of changes in passed 2 semesters, many being managerial and what not. Also, if you do not know already, Devry has bought out US ED CORP (apollo) and changes at higher levels are being made. With that said, My semester in particular has had many sessions with the Director of nursing and the school about our future and containing education here is what I we have been told.

Apollo is credited nationally, that is 100% for sure. You can graduate and take Boards in other states. If I remember correctly, Apollo will be offering a BSN bridge for their students who have graduated. The doors will be open to them first, and there is no criteria to meet, if you attended apollo, you are accepted to the BSN program. This BSN program will be taught ONLINE only. This is not run by the Phoenix system.

I would contact the school and get further information as to when this program is starting, If I remember correctly, it starts in december of this year, but I would double check if you are interested.

Thank you so much for the updated information. I heard that DeVry bought out the apollo in phoenix, I didn't hear about the vegas campus. My degree is from Apollo, so I don't think that affects me. I actually passed my boards this past week and am now an RN! Its a great feeling and I do owe alot to Apollo. I hope that you enjoy your time there and if you need any advice or help don't be afraid to send me a message! Good luck!
