Question about the prerequisites for nursing school at the CC level...

Published

Hi, figured want to be a nurse time to go for it want to be an RN before 32 and I am 28 now. I have most of my fluff courses done from my bachelor's degree. I only need A&P 1 & 2 with the TEAS to apply to the CC program?

I am wondering if I should redo my courses over will that give me a better shot. I graduated college with a 2.7 GPA I struggled the first 2 year's of college that bombed my GPA. I took Intro to Psych 8 year's ago received a 2.0 should I retake it? Also Stats took 6 years ago received a 1.7 so I know ill need to retake that. My intro to bio I received a 2.7 don't think that matters it's good enough to get me in to A&P.

Concern even if I excel on A&P and the TEAS will that be enough to get me into the program?

Planning to do AP1 this coming Spring, Intro and Stats this coming summer. Then next fall AP 2 and take the TEAS.

Appreciate the feedback.

It's really hard to say based on the info you've given. But you can do this! I was in your shoes too, my undergrad gpa was 2.9 but my applying gpa was 3.69 which helped out a lot. Maybe meet with somone from the nursing deptmarment or info session to be sure. When I applied I did not need a statistics math class. Go through your transcript and figure it out based on what you need it apply like, eng 101, 102, intro to psych and sociology and so on and so on. Add those up, and if that gpa is low then retake any low grades. Try to get at Least a b+ or a if you can in A&P I since it's worth 25% of the application. Good luck!

Only the prerequisites and co requisite make the total nursing GPA that is required for the program at the ADN level if you're talking about pursuing the CT-CCNP. Any classes that aren't apart of the nursing GPA will not carry weight in your application process. Statistics is not a requirement unless you are going for a BSN degree. Good luck!
