Question about determining fetal position...

If anyone understands how to determine fetal position, please take a few minutes to explain it to me. I am not getting it by reading my NCLEX book. I am specifically not getting the whole anterior/posterior thing. What my book designates as anterior & posterior does not make sense to me. Please help!

You do not have to memorize them. When it says anterior it means that the head of the baby or whatever the presenting part is, is placed anterior (meaning towards mom's front); posterior means that the presenting part (occiput, etc) is placed at mom's posterior side (back). Hopefully this helps.

Thanks a lot! I did not get the link to the website. I don't know what happened. But, I was able to go to a website called spinning babies to figure it out. It explained it in a simple manner, just as you did. I wish my book did the same! Thanks again!
