Well detox can be rough and most times especially with ETOH, opiates or benzoz the patient really feels like crap for the first few days of detox. But they should probably be doing groups related to the process of detox, recovery and lifetime sobriety. We used to have a AA panel come in and talk to my teens on Saturdays but with Covid restrictions we are not doing that anymore.

What it comes down to is the person suffering from the disease of addiction, either never deveolped healthy coping mechanisms or never had them in the first place. Try looking at New Harbringer Publications they have some neat resources that tou can purchase with lots of free extra's .
