Question about BMCC Admissions

Published

Hello!

I currently am transferring to the Borough of Manhattan Community College. I plan on taking my pre-reqs in the Spring 2011 semester. I was wondering if I would be able to apply for the Nursing Program for the Fall 2011 semester, or will I need to wait until Spring 2012 to be eligible? I have through a couple of threads regarding the admissions of BMCC, but I am still unsure of this. Any information would be great!

Thanks so much! :nurse:

Hi Liza,

I think if you'll be able to finish all prereqs by Spring, you might be able to enter the Fall program. You do have to talk to the nursing coordinator on the 7th Floor to know for sure. They also open application very early (around March I think) so it's better to come see him as soon as possible and asked him about it.

Hope this helps.

Dee

I plan on applying to the nursing program in march. I was just working how the gpa is calculated. Do they calculate the gpa only for the pre reqs or over all gpa?

They calculate the prereq GPA only. If you're planning for the day program, that will only be the four prereqs (Eng101, Mat104, Psy100, AP1) needed but if you're planning for the evening program then that will include all prereqs.

Here is the FAQ on BMCC nursing program:

Thanks for replying. That was very helpful. I think I will apply to the evening program since I work full time. I've yet to take math 104 and devl psyc in spring. I hope to god I really get accepted

I heard though that it is a little different grading system starting this fall. You guys now have to take the HESI exam and from this discussion board link, somebody said the HESI is 70% of the acceptance grade and the GPA is 30%.

Oh wow , that's news! I called the nursing department and some very sleepy lady answers the phone who was not helpful at all! She gave me another # to call and said I have to speak to them before I can apply to the program. I called that number many times and left many messages but no one replied =-/ .. but I will go down to the college and hunt them down lol .. Hopefully then I'll know what exactly I'm suppose to do.. But any information is knowledge .. I didn't even know about the exam

Just go ask your questions directly to the nursing academic advisor on the 7th floor. I can't say the name on this board but you can find his office on S-759.

Your first have to complete PSY, ENG, A&P1 AND MATH FOR HEALTH SCIENCE (?) before you can apply to the program; and you need to complete your HESI 2A also. You cannot apply to the program without these requirments. GL

Yes I've already completed all these courses beside mat 104 and spyc which I will complete this spring...and I suppose while I'm taking those courses I should study for the hesi exam as well .. ?
