I've seen reciently on here a question about the QM./QI...I have lots of people flagging on the antipsychotic without psychotic condition and I don't get it. They all have an appropriate diagnosis listed in the #1 spot on that section of the MDS and most of them have documented behaviors. Their charts tell the story but how can I get these blasted 'x' marks off my QI/QM?

i am pretty sure only certain ICD-9 codes and DX make that go away..like psychosis...or schizophrenia...as long as you have the other dx listed and supporting documentation in notes and appropriate GDR and physician monitoring you should be fine..also care planned!

The answer to your question could potentially be found in the MDS Mentor Newsletter put out by the Texas MDS coordinators. On page 2 of the March 2010 issue is an article explaining how the CASPER QI/QM reports are quirky and the article suggests a work-around for it.
