Residual Chest Pain R/T Pulmonary Embolism

  1. Does anyone know the cause of residual acute chest pain r/t PE?
I had a PE in 2001, and I still get severe usually right-sided chest pain that travels up my jaw, including my teeth, and the right side of my head.
I also had pneumonia 3 times last year. The first time was in March. I went into respiratory failure and had to be intubated. Subsequently, I had a 5 week hospital stay.
I was admitted again in July with Pneumonia & Sepsis, and went into respiratory failure. I was diagnosed with having Chronic Asthmatic Bronchitis. (COPD)
The third time I was hospitalized with pneumonia, was last November, but then I became anemic, and had to be infused with 2 units of blood. Since then, I have managed to keep myself fairly stable with, homehealth care, o2-24/7, & loads of meds.
I'd appreciate any input related to the right, and occasionally the left sided chest pain. I have been on Dilaudid since then. I'm unable to take a lot of narcotics, including; Oxycontin, Morphine, Fentanyl, & Vicodin. Sometimes, I have to take 2 Ibuprofen with the Dilaudid in order to control the pain. I'm also unable to take more than 2 mg of the Dilaudid at any one time. If I take more than that, I have a reaction as well. All of those narcotics cause unbearable itching. & no part of my body is spared.:imbar
