Hi, my goal for a very long time has been to enroll into a psychiatric nursing program. At this point I have met all needed requirements and have had several meetings with the most likely school I will attend, done interviews and volunteer work. What I am looking for is information any recent grads have about nursing programs in BC. What to expect, coorifice load, did you work while you attended schhol? Things you enjoyed, didn't enjoy. How are your classes structured? Any information would be awesome!
Thank you.

sweet congrats! I am not a psychiatric nurse, but I am considering it.
What college/university are you going to
I am from BC as well, I know stenberg college and douglas college for psych nursing.
Kwantlen is another one, but I am looking at Douglas. Due to commuting purposes

FAQs
I am currently looking at Douglas- I've heard great things about them. Originally I thought about Stenberg because of their online option but after a little bit of research I became hesitant as I found many my so great reviews- both from students and future possible employers. Being able to work and have time to do well in school is my biggest concern hence my questions regarding anyone's time in this program.
how many points do you need to be accepted in the program? I heard 10-12 is good the info session. I think I can only muster about 8 right now.

I'm currently enrolled in 2nd semester at Sternberg. I love the flexibility of the program. If you are able to effectively manage your time, it's a good option! Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi
i was hoping to get more insight about the Stenberg psychiatric nursing program.
I wanted to know how hard is it to teach yourself and be doing all your work online? Also how many hours a day/week do you study? Is it worth it or no?
Thanks

hi - i go to douglas, just started my 2nd year in the bachelors of psych nursing program. 1st year was just biology, english, etc. (foundational courses). we've gotten all of our course outlines for this semester and it is definitely ramping up! i'm still working since it's the start of the term but i can foresee not being able to work too much during this program. the faculty seems really great so far - all really friendly, excited about the program as well as the psych nursing profession itself :)
I love Sternberg... I spend about 15 hours per week doing school work and then 2 days per week on clinicals. I am also working part time. I just finished my 3rd semester and am so glad i choose to do it this way. I have been told by both of my clinical sites to apply once I graduate..

Hi everybody! I'm looking for school in BC too. Thinking about Stenberg college. I'm currently a student in HCA.
I'm thinking to get into different school but there are not much options.... Douglas is full time and 3 years. Stenberg is expensive.
how did you find the stenberg program? I read a lot of bad reviews. Could you please tell me your honest opinion. I'll be paying for it out of my pocket and I can't afford to lose that much money if it's poorly structured. Thank you!
