Old Nurse New Questions

  1. Hello, I am new to this forum, my name is Barbara, I have worked in many areas of nursing, but when I relocated to Washington in 1988, I eventually wound up in psych nursing at the state mental hospital as I needed full time work with no go home due to low patient census etc. Having been there 18 years, through some very difficult times, I am now very concerned as I have been informed psychologists and a variety of individuals including a recreational therapist willnow be supervising the nursing supervisors as the program managers. They have no nursing knowledge but will supervise with the "aid" of a nurse manager. I feel this is a sad day for nursing as I am a very capable nursing supervisor and I am seeking input and any legal recourse I may be able to follow.
    Input appreciated.
    Thank you.

I worked on an inpatient unit in a hospital where the program manager was a Master's level SW, but we had a nurse manager who supervised the nurses and it seemed to work well.
