Nurses:using antidepressants to cope with workplace stress?

  1. Hi everyone. I am a new grad working in an acute inpatients ward. I have recently been under some significant stress [i think the honeymoon period is over] and when i have spoken to other nurses about my problems [lack of self cares, low mood and difficulty concentrating] the general consensus appears to be that i need to be on stronger antidepressants to cope with work related stress on the unit.
I am currently on Citalopram. However i am hesitant to increase my dosage, surely there are alternatives to using medication?

I have recently started walking/running again, and other holistic methods to stay healthy, but i am curious; should i follow my fellow nurses advice?

As per the site Terms of Service we can not offer medical advice. You really need to speak to your PCP who knows you and can help you make the best decision for you
